Redbull Flugtag

A 22-foot high platform set-up on the Ottawa river hosted the Redbull Flugtag event for the second time in Canada's national capital region. 30 Teams competed in the event with their crazy flying machines to win one of three possible cash prizes. ($1,500. $3,000. and $7,500.) The teams participating in the event were selected from hundreds of applicants from across the country who submitted their drawings for possible aircrafts. The event which was held at the Museum of Civilization drew thousands of spectators who watched from water, land and movie screens in a near by park.

Winning Team

Team Sally's Leap of Faith won top prize for the event and even broke the Canadian Record set in Vancouver in 2006. Sally's Leap of Faith soared 129 feet (30.3 metres), off the 22-foot flight deck to beat the previous Canadian Flugtag distance record of 86 feet (26.2 metres). The team which is from Montreal, Canada, received the top prize of $7,500. for their win and celebrated their win by spraying crew, teams and camera men with wine.
